Alan Fairnington

Managing Partner

Alan is the author of “The Age of Selfish Altruism” published by Wiley & Co in April 2010.

Alan graduated from Durham University with an Honours Degree in Psychology. He joined J.Walter Thompson in Canada, and was later transferred to manage the Malaysian Company. He then went on to manage the newly formed JWT Hong Kong operation, and later opened JWT China and JWT Taiwan. Alan became JWT President Asia-Pacific President and was appointed to the JWT Worldwide Board and Executive Committee.

Retiring from JWT, he later assumed the CEO role at Batey at the behest of Sir Martin Sorrell. He left Batey in 2009 to establish Duxton Consulting in partnership with Laurenz Koehler.

Alan has worked at the most senior management level with a broad range of clients to help deliver growth across diverse categories and markets.

Laurenz Koehler

Managing Partner

Laurenz co-founded Duxton Consulting together with Alan Fairnington.

Laurenz was the Director of Strategic Planning at Batey, and the strategic driving force behind the winning of Qatar Airways, Audi, DWS and Mitsubishi Motors. Prior to Batey, he was based in Detroit with JWT managing the Ford North America account. Earlier he had led JWT’s management of the Mazda Pan-European business based in Dusseldorf.

Prior to joining JWT, Laurenz worked on a variety of German blue chip accounts in the automotive (VW, Mercedes-Benz), fashion (Ben Sherman) and telco industries (E-Plus) working at BBDO, DDB and Grey. With a Masters degree from the Ruhr University in Economics and 20 years of strategic experience on 3 different continents, Laurenz brings considerable breadth of knowledge of diverse markets and consumers.

His passion is understanding consumer motivations and delivering the insights which deliver brand growth.

Jennifer Chan

Executive Director, Malaysia

Jennifer Chan has been providing clients across Asia with marketing and communications advice for over three decades.

After beginning her career in Malaysia, she went on to work with J. Walter Thompson in Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan. During this time she played increasingly key roles and was integral to the growth of the company in Asia Pacific.

Jennifer returned home to Malaysia and became CEO of BBDO in 1997, a role she held for the next 15 years. She was the first woman to lead an international agency in Malaysia. Under her tenure the company grew strongly, won numerous creative awards, and was voted Agency of the Year. BBDO was ranked 8th in Asia and 13th worldwide by GUNN report. Jennifer has worked with a diverse range of clients, both local and multinational, including IBM, Unilever, Kelloggs, Maxis, KFC, P&G, Ford, Astro & Tesco.

Jennifer is obsessed with helping clients achieve creative and measurable marketplace results.

Virach Lervoravinyu

Country Manager, Thailand

Virach has been deeply involved in research, marketing and advertising for more than 20 years.He was Research and Planning Director for 10 years at JWT Bangkok where he worked with Alan Fairnington, who later co-founded Duxton Consulting.

Virach is an MBA graduate of the Asian Institute of Management, associate member of the UK Market Research Society and member of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing. He also attended an executive program at Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth College, USA. His has extensive experience with a broad range of business sectors and organisations. He has worked closely with many companies, including Unilever, Sony, Ford, Shell, Mobil, BP OIL, Orange, Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, & Toyota. He also played a key role in the initial launch of Orange mobile network brand, now True, in Thailand.
